The Game Boy Advance is a handheld game console made by Nintendo and the successor to the Game Boy Color. Introduced in 2001, it is a sixth-generation console and is also backwards-compatible with the games of its' two predecessors. The Game Boy Advance runs on two AA batteries and comes in colors such as black and purple. Unlike the two predecessors, the Game Boy Advance is not rectangular-shaped, making it more suited to be kept inside the pocket. There have been two redesigns of the Game Boy Advance: The Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro (The SP was shaped like a flip phone and the Micro was smaller and rectangular-shaped).
