First appearance

The alien is a fictional character that appears in Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie. The alien's design is supposed to be a spoof of the 8-bit representation of Steven Spielberg's E.T. character in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600. The alien's backstory is a spoof of the story of the UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico from 1947. The alien is portrayed in the movie by American voice actor Robbie Rist, best known for voicing Michelangelo in the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films.

The alien is the son of Death Mwauthzyx, and he created all of planet Earth and its various populations of species, simply as a past-time, like a video game. However, he says that he has known Death Mwauthzyx only for "5,000 years", and Earth has existed for 4.543 billion years, and humanity (with its ancestors) 6,200,000 years - with the modern Homo sapiens being 200,000 yaers old. It's possible that the alien's sense of time is different than a human's, perhaps being of a higher dimension, or that Death Mwauthzyx is not literally his father.. It is possible that the alien is from a higher dimension and time works different for him, or he did not mean that Death Mwauthzyx is literally his "father" (he simply calls Death Mwauthzyx "his dad" in reference to him taking away his game (Earth) if he found out the alien had created a world of warmongers and xenophobes.[1]

When humanity invented the nuclear bomb, the alien travelled down to Earth in his spaceship to settle things, but instead he crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, destroying the ship, and was taken captive by the US army in Area 51 for about 60 years until the Angry Video Game Nerd and his friend Cooper Folly came and helped him escape.[1]

The alien also appears in the video game The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures 2: ASSimilation.

Behind the scenes[]

The alien character was designed and built by special effects artists Josh Russell and David Woodruff (credited as Davis Woodruff), under the supervision of Frank Willis Balzer. The alien was built as an animatronic puppet, which had to be puppeteered with rods inserted into its body. The rods were later painted out by visual effects artists.
