Chris Bores is an American actor and game reviewer. Bores is best known for being the creator of the controversial web-series Irate Gamer, which has been active since 2007. Bores also launched the YouTube channel Puppet Steve in 2016, which has accumulated half a million subscribers in less than 2 years.
After being featured by YouTube for his review of "Super Mario Bros. 2", the series recieved massive amounts of backlash for bearing too much resemblance to The Angry Video Game Nerd (series). The claims for the most part were often directed to the generally lower quality acting, writing, jokes, and special effects, being described as a "knockoff".
Career[]
Bores began his YouTube career in 2006, with the channel "Y2BProdictions2006". With the channel getting little to no recognition beyond his local circle, he started a new channel, "Irate Gamer". Bores released his first episode on April 28, 2007, where he reviewed the NES game "Back to the Future". However, due to later drama, Bores never admitted his inspiration from the AVGN show.
In a press discussion with James Rolfe, when asked about the Irate Gamer, Rolfe said "[Bores] is pretty much acting like I don't exist, so why should I say anything about him?"
On October 4, 2014, Bores released a video detailing his view and experiences with YouTube, James Rolfe, and his comeuppance. The video recieved mixed reception.
On July 15, 2020, Rolfe collaborated with Bores on the latter's review of "Dick Tracy" for the NES (originally planned to be a physical collaboration of "American Gladiators" for the NES which was scrapped due to the COVID-19 outbreak) where the Nerd and Irate Gamer challenged each other to beat "Dick Tracy" first with the Nerd ultimately coming out on top after using the Beat a Game button.
